Potamotherium jaw, oligocene age

This lower jaw of Potamotherium comes from the oligocene layers of St. Pourcain Sur - Sioule/Allier, France.

The jaw is complete preserved and is still embedded in its original sediment. It measures about 7 cm in length.

The fossil comes from an quite old individual, the alveoli of the missing teeth are allready closed.

Fossils of this extinct species of fish otters are rarely offered for sale.
