Products description

This is a caudal vertebra of the mysterious giraffe-necked dinosaur Tanystropheus. The main feature of this species is the extremely elongated neck with otherwise genuinely gracile anatomy. According to Wikipedia, Tanystropheus, with its extreme proportions, is considered a "biomechanical and pal-ecological mystery".

The fossil comes from the middle triassic, upper Muschelkalk (Quaderkalk, MO3) of WÃŒrzburg. We found and prepared the piece ourselves. Every Muschelkalk collector knows about the rarity of such finds, the piece is the only vertebra of this rare species that we have been able to find in 20 years of intensive searching.

The vertebra is completely preserved , it measures about 5 x 4.5 cm. The stone is original and unbroken, it measures about 8 x 7 x 3 cm.

Top rarity! Rare opportunity for any triassic collector!
