This right side lower jaw of a Hyena (Hyaenodon) is a gravel pit find from the Pleistocene
deposits of Bensheim near Darmstadt in Germany.
It still contains three teeth.
Interesting: Pathological change - one of the teeth is extremely chewed, another one
was broken off quite badly during his lifetime (or chewed all the way down), this
poor Carnovore has defenetly ssuffered from severe pain.
The fossil is unbroken, it measures approximately 9 x 6 x 3 cm.
Fossils from the extinct Hyaenodonts are very rare and are higly sought after
by museums and collectors.
Honest piece - no manipulation at all!
