This "spiny shark" Acanthodus is from the middle Devonian of the Orkney Islands of Scotland. The fish is completely preserved. It measures about 5 cm and is located nicely in the middle unbroken original matrix (7.6 x 6.5 x 1 cm) The fossil has been thinly varnished, no other manipulations
