Pecopteris spec., Permian era plant

This great plant fossil Pecopteris spec. comes from the Perm (Sponheim-Formation, Rotliegendes) of Bad Sobernheim in Germany.

The location (brick pit "Eimer") is world famous for its magnificently preserved plant fossils. Unfortunately the location has long been inaccessible and fossils from there are very rare on the market.  This piece comes from an old collection.

The stone is unbroken, it measures about 14 x 12 x 2 cm.
