Womans head of Brassempouy

This venus head was found in Brassempouy, southern France. It was carved out of a piece of Mammoth ivory. It really is a masterpiece of early human art - one of the earliest human faces known. It is a young woman with long hair and hairnet.

This piece comes from the Gravettien and is about 22.000 years old.

This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique.
