Products description

Upper and lower jaw of Australopithecus afarensis A.L.200-1

This narrow maxilla with a flat alveola bow and its associated mandibula were found in the 70s of the last century by the team of Donald Johansson in Hadar, Ethiopia. Their age is approximately 3,4 mio. years. At this location the famous skeleton of "Lucy" was found. The kind of A. afarensis is apparently the last common anchestor of several ancestry lines of hominids that appeared in the time before 3 to 2 mio. years. Their fellow specimen left the famous footprints in 3,5 mio. year old vulcanic ashes in Laetoli, Tanzania.

This cast is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique
