Here we have a complete permian amphibian called Sclerocephal häuseri. It was found in Odernheim/Pfalz, Germany. The animal measures about 41 cm. The matrix is original and measures around 60 x 31 x 2 cm. It was broken several times and is repaired professionally. On the back side of the slab there are two hangings to make it easy hanging the fossil on a wall.
The skull measures about 11 cm. It`s preservation is excellent. Even the lower jaw and many teeth are present. Unfortunately the body-part is a little disarticulated, but nevertheless the animal itself is nearly complete. All bones are original, nothing was reconstructed! In addition to that this Sclerocephalus is defenetly one individual and not - as sometimes is the case - made of several animals.
Since many years it is strictly forbidden to dig in that location. That´s the reason why these kind of fossils become pretty rare and are hard to get. This one comes from an old collection.
