This is a fine example of a member of the Oreodontidae from the White River Formation deposits of South Dakota, known as Leptauchenia nitida.
This skull was found in the oligocene layers of the White River Badlands, South Dakota, USA. The age of this fossil is about 35 mio. years.
The skull is well preserved, it is nicely inflated (not deformed) and still shows many teeth. The skull is unbroken, it measures about 20 cm in length.
The matrix is unbroken, it measures about 22 x 21 x 13 cm. The stone is in attractive shape and give a natural stand.
The prepping is excellent, nice display piece!
Only a few cracks have been filled, no further manipulations!
