The "Blautal" in Germany is one of the oldest settlement areas in Baden-Württtemberg. In the caves around Blaubeuren the finds date back to the Neanderthals.
Probably the most important find is a small mammoth ivory plate from the period about 35,000 years ago. Locality is the so-called "Geißerklösterle" in Aachtal. The figure of a man has been carved out with his arms raised. This presentation is the oldest human figure we know so far in the world. About the purpose of illustration, there is only speculation. Because on the back side of the piece are numerous regular markings carved a magical function is not excluded.
This cast measures about 3,5 x 1,5 cm. It is handcoloured and made of Epoxi. The colours may be a little differend than shown on the pictures. Because of the handcraft every cast is unique.
